LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — A suspect in the case of the brutal beating of San Francisco Giants Fan Brian Stow has been arrested, investigators confirmed Sunday.

The suspect was taken into custody around 7 a.m. at an apartment building on the 800 block of North Mariposa Avenue in East Hollywood.

LAPD Northeast Division officials confirmed that detectives and SWAT officers arrived with a warrant and arrested several suspects at the location, including a man described as having a bald head and tattoos on his neck and arms, matching the vague description released by police last month.

A tip from a parole agent led to the arrest, police sources told the Los Angeles Times.

Neighbors said the residents had been living at the apartment for over a decade, and they had seen the man at the apartment for several months.

The Giants issued a statement Sunday regarding the arrest of a suspect in the beating of Bryan Stow:

“Today’s arrest in the Bryan Stow case is welcome news in what has been a very difficult time for the Stow family. We commend [LAPD] for their hard work and we are confident that they will continue to dedicate themselves until all of those responsible for this senseless act of violence have been brought to justice. Our thoughts and prayers remain with Bryan Stow and his family and we thank the community for its tremendous support for the Stow family during this difficult time.”

Giants manager Bruce Bochy told MLB.com that the capture was “great news” and that “it’s been hard on the family, but for them to continue to work as hard as they have been — I’m talking about the police department — and have a suspect in hand, it’s great news. Hopefully they’ll catch everyone who was involved in this senseless act.”

At a news conference on Tuesday, LAPD Chief Charlie Beck announced there are 17 detectives working full-time on the case.

Detectives said they have several strong leads, particularly pertaining to the female driver of the car that took the two suspects away on the night of the beating.

She is described as a 5-foot-2 Latina woman in her 20s with dark hair worn in a ponytail and wearing a white Andre Ethier jersey. She was reportedly driving a white sedan with a 10-year-old body inside.

The assault happened around 8:30 p.m. in Parking Lot 2 following the Dodgers home opener on March 31.

Two suspects reportedly knocked Stow to the ground, kicking him repeatedly in the head.

Stow, a 42-year-old paramedic and father of two, suffered a severe skull fracture and bruising to his frontal lobe.

He was hospitalized and stayed in a coma for over 6 weeks before he was transferred to a Bay-area hospital last week.

Doctors at San Francisco General Hospital said Stow has been weaned off of five anti-seizure medications and his brain did not show any seizure activity during 30 hours of constant monitoring.

The LAPD stepped up its presence at games since the beating, with officers on foot, horseback, bikes and Segways.

The reward for information leading to their arrest and conviction now stands at more than $200,000.
