Tonight Dr. Ron Tarner attempted to explain the significance of an archeological discovery...a 2 million year old skull possibly belonging to a hominid closely related to the human being... Bud however found the term 'homo" real funny and Tarner was distracted by the fact he couldn't get a bus or taxi to stop for him. He chalked that up to his standing there with a black colleague, Dr. Steve Peabody. When Peabody walks off to catch his own taxi, it turns out Don's the one that they weren't stopping for... Vernon Dozier, Curt Queedy and Guy Barton discussed and debated the Saturday Night Massacre, an event that took place 40 years ago on this date in which two members of the Justice department quit rather than carry out what they thought was an illegal order given them by President Nixon. Dozier thought the Congress' intrusion on the President was just like Malcom McDowell and his gang invading the writers home in "Clockwork Orange" with their big noses, derby hats and storm trooper boots.

Larry Grover and his mother Gloria talked to Phil about the government shutdown and how it now affects the payment of a "death gratuity" to the families of soldiers killed in Afghanistan. Larry feels that in order to help the Tea Party keep the government shutdown and bring Obama to his senses these families need to suck it up a little longer. Tonight's show also featured Vernon Dozier and Joe Dickhead discussing fan interference in a play during the Detroit-Oakland ALDS playoff game. (Link below) Vernon talked about being taunted by a fan during his days playing college basketball and in fact had a tape recording of a dramatization of the incident. It still causes Vernon pain to this day... Father James McQuarters weighed in on the "Redskins" name issue, saying that the name "Fighting Irish" doesn't bother him, an Irishman, as long as they don't get to personal about the drinking thing.

Margaret Grey talks about the Lumineers song "Stubborn Love" being used by a commercial company and thus being "creatively raped." Don Berman of Channel 19 News was bemoaning the lack of guts that today's TV field reporters display. Why, when Don was a young reporter he saw the FBI blow up a casino that reportedly had a bomb in it and Don was as close as two blocks away; behind a police barricade, yes, but still he could have been hit with debris like a shard of a glass "slicing right through my head!" Obamacare, Syria and the "filibuster" of Ted Cruze were the topic in a debate between Vernon Dozier and Jack Armstong. Dozier thought it was very wrong of Armstrong to assume that the Iranian Ayatollah speaking before the UN was actually a Tea Party guy in costume..

Meanwhile Raj claims his son Todd wept and bitterly complained that he was put through something horrible by seeing the Chargers get waxed at home against Houston last week. Lloyd Bonafide talked with Phil about a camping/fishing trip he was on in the Angeles National Forest that ended with him single-handedly putting out a growing brush fire started by Lloyd and his friends smoking weed and flipping the roaches into the dry grass....Jay Santos called later to tell Phil and Lloyd that the area where the fire had been was gradually "repopulating" with wildlife...not naturally but because Jay bought some squirrels and was now transporting them there...
