Jim the Ripper
A selection of hours past and present for this Presidents Day holiday were featured on PhilTV and Tune In including Raj Feneen and son Todd singing doo wop to celebrate Ramadan. Dr. Jim Sadler offered his theory on not only who Jack the Ripper was but who Jim the Ripper might be, a serial killer operating at the same time as Jack who euthanized dogs and cats. A Classic hour from 2005 featured Jay Santos and his Citizens Auxiliary Police asking people whether or not they were married before they checked into a motel

The Carpenters
Margaret sang a variety of Carpenter songs for Valentines Day although she did her usual “lyrical improvisation” which basically means singing any lyric that comes into her head. For “Close to You” she sang “close to me” and for “Top Of The World: she sang it from the perspective of someone who’s bipolar. Phil found the story he’d been searching for about a man and wife on a honeymoon in Hawaii and how she allegedly was bit by a shark and bled to death. No body and everyone has to take the guys word for it. Back to the Valentines songs, Margaret all of a sudden demed the lyrics to “Afternoon Delight” filthy and refused to sing them. Too many refrences to “nibbling.”

Barne Clancy realizes his ‘chute isn’t going to open so he salutes one last time and kisses his ass goodbye….
Another snow-out on the radio side but Phil and the crew persevered on Tune In and philhendrieshow.com as well as the BSP videocast. Among things discussed was the story of Barne Clancy, an Air Force buddy of Frank Grey’s whose parachute didn’t open during a training exercise. Frank was the first one to him but only found boots, a pair of pants and a shirt. Harvey Weirman and General Shaw talked about a new Belgian law allowing euthanasia for children. They both agreed that the reflex reaction any elderly person has to news like that is a ‘lifting of the mood, as if the blackness of your world is brightened for a moment.” There was also a problem when Maragaret objected to the phrase “packing your chute”
