May 24 (Bloomberg) — Hurricane Bud strengthened as it churned northwest in the Pacific, threatening the Mexican coast with high winds, surf and heavy rain through the weekend.
The storm’s top winds reached 90 miles (145 kilometers) per hour up from 85 mph earlier today, according to an advisory from the National Hurricane Center in Miami just before 8 a.m. New York time. Bud, now a Category 1 hurricane, is expected to strengthen further before weakening and turning back out to sea
