From the set of Maron today …..

Phil, Jim Ladd, our director Rob Cohen, writer Sivert Glarum, Frazier Smith

Arrived early on the set today (8:30 am but thats after driving an hour and a half from the Pacifico) We shot in another couple of grand old houses today in Highland Park. These homes, as I mentioned yesterday, are all not just pre-World WarTwo but just post World War One. They’re built in what was once called the California Bungalow style, an architectural design that, among other things, allowed the members of a household to literally sleep out on verandas during the summer. Anyway, we shot a bunch of scenes today and for those of you familiar with a couple of the guys in the picture above you’ll probably be able to guess at least the direction of the episode. Jim Ladd is one of the longest starring album rock disc jockeys in LA history, appearing on KMET, KLOS, KLSX and early on KNAC, Long Beach. Jim can be heard on Sirius/XM now playing music that is programmed only by him, the way its been for 40 plus years. Frazier Smith is a legendary LA morning man who originated, among hundreds of things, the term ‘party animal’ lifted promptly by Budweiser. Frazier has done mornings at KLOS, K-Earth, KMET and KLSX. He is also a stand-up comic working every major club in LA both as an MC and featured performer. I had a good time with these two remembering just how scummy the radio business has been and continues to be even as we work hard to try and find a few laughs in it! We shot all day till 8:30 in the evening. Two days with the ‘Maron’ crew and I gotta say they are terrific people in every way. They love their show and they work hard to make the guest performer feel as welcome as possible. Special thnaks to director Rob Cohen, a Calgary, Canada native and a great guy, full of encouragement and praise
