WASHINGTON — Is the island of Guam in danger of tipping over and capsizing?
Hammerin’ Hank Johnson’s comments came during a House Armed Services Committee meeting as he questioned Adm. Robert Willard, commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, about the impact of U.S. troops on the little island.
“My fear is that the whole island will become so overly populated that it will tip over and capsize,” Hammered Hank said, straight-faced and serious because of the sedative effects of straight vodka
The admiral seemed to take the question seriously, too. But he was being polite and maybe covering for Hank “Hill” Johnson “We don’t anticipate that,” he said, proceeding to describe the population on Guam.
The derision online quickly gained momentum Thursday.
A note from a reader to a blog at National Review Online said, “My son is stationed on Guam. I just sent him the video and told him to run to the other side of the island. He said one of his shipmates showed up to work with a life vest on!” Ha Ha ha…oh good Lord, whatever.
On YouTube, about 75,000 visitors had viewed the video exchange through Thursday afternoon. Not bad.
“Please Georgia, you gave us Cynthia McKinney, now Hank Johnson?” one commenter wrote. Oh good God, whatever…
Meanwhile 90’s R&B sensation Erykah Badu got nude in Dealey Plaza for a forthcoming music video. Problem..other than the getting nude in Dealey Plaza part..is that Dealey Plaza is near where President John Kennedy was assasinated 46 years ago…in Dallas, Texas and as such is a memorial site. Problem also: The video was shot with casual and unsuspecting people caught in frame. Problem, as well: Erykah took her clothes off. Nude, full and irrevocable. Last problem: Erykah isn’t blessed with the greatest kisser or body. Lay that reality on top of where she was and who was there and it just doesn’t pop up Music Video Awards although having said that I’m sure she’ll be a cinch for one.
