The good doctor started smoking a pipe because he saw that Hawking “sort of smoked one and got lots of women.” (Actually, said Dr. Tarner, Dr. Hawking didn’t smoke it. He just had a ‘buxom’ blonde put it in and out of his mouth as if he smoked it) Tarner would pose smoking a pipe, wearing a tweed jacket and leaning against a wall nonchalantly. Didn’t work. Hawking still got more women “sitting there in his suped up shopping cart.”
