Jay Leno Plays Along with Phil Hendrie

LOS ANGELES, December 6, 2010 – Jay Leno spontaneously called Phil Hendrie during his KFI-AM 640 radio show in Los Angeles that airs from 7-10 p.m. on Saturdays.  No, it wasn’t Hendrie playing Leno, it was in fact Leno himself.  He told Hendrie he’s a big fan of the show and particularly likes Ted Bell, owner of Ted’s of Beverly Hills Steak House.

Playing along, Leno said “I went by his place (Ted’s) and everything you said about him was correct.”

Hendrie said, “I hope he hasn’t had occasion to rough you up and throw you out of the Prime Rib Room as he did with Brad Pitt one night.”

“No, no, no, but he’s one of those testy guys, that everything is so touchy, you try to make a constructive criticism, but the guy goes crazy.”

Leno then joined the discussion with Hendrie and the guest character about slowing down the trains – a heated local issue in Los Angeles.

About The Phil Hendrie Show

Hendrie’s nationally syndicated radio show, heard on about 100 stations, and his local Saturday evening show on Los Angeles’ KFI AM 640 are driven by his cast of fictional characters, all of whom he created and plays on air.  As host, Hendrie sets up a topic and discusses it with one of his characters who seamlessly takes the discussion beyond obvious social parameters.  Feeding the circle of social satire are the callers who are real and genuinely passionate about what Hendrie’s “guest” is saying.  Loyal fans enjoy being in on the ruse as Hendrie orchestrates a parody of his own profession – talk radio.
