A NOTE FROM PHIl
Margaret Grey
Margaret was created in the spring of 1991 almost accidentally. Following a call to my KVEN, Ventura show by a not too intelligent man, I wondered how a high class, wealthy, older woman would respond. Out of nowhere I found the Margaret voice. Not a falsetto but the uppermost range of my normal voice. That was the birth of Margaret. For me, performing a character over time gives me the biography, the life of that individual. Margaret was first from Edina, Minnesota (WCCO) Bal Harbor, Florida (WIOD) and Santa Monica, California (KFI) She’s a former wannabe actress who married a wealthy older guy, (Frank Grey) became a socialite-legend in her own mind and gave birth to a son that she has stage mothered ever since (Jason Jay Delmonico) Margaret is also based on my mother, especially her need to be the center of attention, her exaggeration of speech and her pettiness.

- The Goods. A native of Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of a successful doctor.
- Career Ambitions. She moved to LA to pursue an acting career and was cast in “Bunkhouse,” a pilot for CBS where she played the girl working in the kitchen who banged ranch hands.
- Star-crossed Lovers. She met her husband Frank (the producer of said failed CBS pilot), after playing leapfrog in his office without any panties on.
- Hidden Talents. Margaret also claims a professional singing career somewhere. She breaks into song all the time with varying degrees of success.
