Don Berman has insulted and harassed a disabled woman so he needs a face and career-saving idea. The answer: hosting a beauty pageant for disabled women. From September 2003.

Ep. 528

Friday, September 19, 2014

Kicking things off was talk of the Scottish independence vote and what it all meant which no one understood or cared about. Conversation was more about "What is large curd cottage cheese" and "Phil needs to pull one of Margaret's tampons out of the studio toilet..." Mavis Leonard came on to comment on the NFL domestic abuse scandals as she was being driven to the funeral of her late pinochle partner Ella Saban. She also was bugging her driver to "pull it up" at a McDonald's so she could get a quarter pounder with cheese. Ted Bell also got in on the discussion. But the segment went all wrong when Margaret went through the phone on Ted and knocked his "buck tooth bridge" out of his mouth. Episode 211 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

The gang talked about Scottish independence with Father James McQuarters as Father Staley, in the background, was nodding off. Dr. Jim Sadler joined the fray with his views on Ebola while he was also vaccinating school children at a local mall. The entire thing was interrupted by some 7 year olds that broke into a candy store and made off with the cash register. Coach Vernon Dozier weighed in on the latest NFL domestic violence scandal and his fear that he'll be forced into an apron eventually by his wife. And David G. Hall called from the Bosell family pond where a gunfight breaks out between Steve and, allegedly, a group of "travelers," or traveling squirrels. Episode 210 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

Ep. 525

Wednesday, September 17, 2014

We're experiencing a power outage in the studio due to the record high heat in the Southern California area, so we've got a new "Best Of" for you today. The Show started off with Don Berman and Larry Grover debating Phil on the topic of violence in the black community and a newsman in New Jersey who is the latest white man to weigh in on its causes. Berman was talking to Phil from Marcy's Gym in Los Angeles and was doing his "curls" when he decided to do one last one and herniated something. The line went dead as Don was asking someone to reach down into his jock strap for some reason. Then Phil and the crew discussed the passing of blues legend Johnny Winter and played some of his music. General Shaw demonstrated what he thought "blues ukelele" would sound like and Jeff Dowdder checked in from Mr Poo's previewing a song called "Darkness at Sunrise Blues." Pastor William Renneck joined the show to discuss his potential addition to the one-man show and his use of the song "Give It To Me Baby". And Frank Grey closed the show to talk about a recent "bet" he had with Margaret. Episode 209 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

Ep. 524

Tuesday, September 16, 2014

Whatever 3D printing is, Phil carved up the explanation in the first 40 minutes of the show today, much to the disgust of our panel. But in fact Jeff Dowdder didn't do much better. Don Berman returned to the show to heap accolades on one Kevin Conroy, the longtime animation voice of Batman, for volunteering to cook for the firefighters and rescuers at Ground Zero during 9/11...Don hung up on Phil at one point and Phil couldn't get him back on for awhile because no one in the channel 19 newsroom had ever heard of him... Dr. Ron Tarner discussed America's return to manned spaceflight, to be announced today at 1pm PDT, by bemoaning what he thinks is America's target: Venus. He wanted to go to Mars because he'd written a musical about it, "A Martian, Though I May Be." Episode 208 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

Ep. 523

Monday, September 15, 2014

This morning Phil started off by mentioning the show Thursday night and how, for the most part, Margaret sang well except when she took off "melodically" at the end while singing "I wish you love..." Margaret was predictably offended. "You're just dragging me out into the middle of a dirty, dusty western street and waiting for a stage coach to roll over top of me. Herb Sewell and Don Berman joined the program to discuss the Adrian Peterson/Ray Rice stories with Herb recounting how he pushed his wife Hailey out of a moving car on the I-5 grapevine but it was okay because "as you know Phil, when I met her she was a stunt-woman." Episode 207 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.
