I love these old movies. I grew up watchin em. I just wish I had a pencil thin mustache.
How did Tarzan’s parents die in the book?
When Tarzan was a year old, his mother died of natural causes, and his father was killed by Kerchak, leader of the ape tribe into which Tarzan was adopted. Tarzan’s tribe of apes is known as the Mangani, Great Apes of a species unknown to science. Kala is his ape mother.
What is the original story of Tarzan?
Tarzan is his ape name (meaning “White-Skin”); his English name is John Clayton, Viscount Greystoke (according to Burroughs in Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle; Earl of Greystoke in later, less canonical sources, notably the 1984 movie Greystoke).
Was Jane originally named Eleanor in the Edgar Rice Burroughs novel? When did she become “Jane.” No way did Tarzan look like the actor they hired to play him here in 1938. That’s likened to them hiring Jeffrey Hunter to play Jesus. Remember that one?
Pretty good one, Phil!
Thanks for doing these, Phil
Weak movie. Great commentary! The Chim-Pan-Zee stole the show!!
Jesus, according to IMDB, the actor portraying the old guy who wanted a white crocodile in this movie was born seven months after Lincoln was assassinated (November, 1865).
