Pre-Show

Phil talks to RC Collins of Bradley Military Academy about the Army’s first two female Rangers. And Dean Wheeler’s song “Go With It” is given the Wes Hurlford treatment…as in he gives it the lyrics to “There’s A Midget.”

Best show of the year by far. I’ve already listened to it 5 times!
RC and the song at the end are instant classics.

And by the way, whatever happened to the guy who had done time for being a pervert, and the “gay man, gay journalist”?? Sorry, I can’t remember their names, but they were great characters, and seem to have disappeared of late. And just for the record, I cannot stand Harvey trying to read copy. It isn’t funny, and it slows the pace of the show. It’s like a stand-up comic, telling the same joke over and over. On the other hand, I love Bob doing the news; it’s totally brilliant, and always ties in with what’s been said previously if you listen carefully.

I was so happy to hear RC again; he’s always been my favorite character. But his character doesn’t work as well now that the General has become all aggressive and macho. What happened? The General used to be a doddering old guy, whose voice keep cracking and getting squeaky, and who was led around by Bud, to find his Nilla Wafers and cottage cheese. And RC was a bratty kid who would talk back to anyone and always insist on being right. Unfortunately, having been programmed by a military academy, RC is not gong to get bratty with the General, so consequently, his character has lost it’s edge. Anyway, that’s my two cents. If there are any RC fans out there, go to the archives, 2005, Nov 21, hour 3, and 2012, July 13, hour 2. These are both classic RC bits. The former features RC having a debate with Vernon Dozier about Harry Potter (Vernon is pro, RC is con), and the latter, which has RC and his buddy, Watson, on a payphone in the mess hall, is my favorite. I chanced upon this bit when it was first aired, and I was hysterical with laughter. It made me a die hard Phil Phan.

It was great to see RC on the show again. He’s still on of my favorites.

I can’t contain laughter when the horns kick in on that ‘go with it’ song.

Wes Hurlford is a great new character. “There’s a Midget Down the Road” is an instant classic!

So love when Bob’s helicopter stalls. Makes me laugh out loud every time as he screams to the ground!
