Classic Hour

Wednesday, September 20, 2017

Larry Grover thinks the bonnets from The Handmaid’s Tale are a pretty good idea… men could wear a variation of a baby bonnet. He’s laughed off the air. Coach Vernon Dozier does the duck walk at a school board meeting and an ambulance is called.

The BSP Classic Hour is from October 1999. Chris Norton calls to discuss his dating record and how he has had a date every Friday night for the past eight years. Tonight, however, the date canceled on him because her mother is sick.

Mentioning Modesty and Enforcing it with physical violence are pretty different. Anyway, it doesn’t matter. What do I know. Phil is still funny, I just wish he would relax a little and be more like he was a few years ago. I understand that he believes, like a lot of people, the world is going in the wrong direction. What has changed is his format and his attitude. I just personally believe, and it seemes that I am not alone, that his show is better when he is free with the language and stays away from Politics, in particular Politics he feels strongly about. Of course this is his show, he can do/say whatever he wants I am just saying that his show is better when he does topical non political satire.

Phil, you guys have been so focused on “flag-wrapped Bibles” that you won’t even notice when Fascism sneaks in the door promising free stuff and “fairness”.

The star of Handmaid’s Tale is Elisabeth Moss is a Scientologist, as is a good number of Hollywood types. You want to worry about a creepy totalitarian religion, start there.

Whatever. Last I checked there is not an enforced modesty code in Christianity, thats Islam. Phil used to be on the leading edge of not only comedy but he was an excellent satirist in relation to the American Experience. ALWAYS OUT IN FRONT! Now I can hear this on any network night show or podcast. Disappointing.

such a good show! I choked on my water when Gloria said Larry “doesn’t get it until you shove his face in there and force him to get a good whiff”, and I had to pause it to empty my self during Vernon Dozier’s phone call.

I don’t know how you do it Phil. Like with the classic on Monday (where Vernon throws the bird cage into the garbage truck), Phil is laughing, and Vernon responds, 100% straight faced. So quick, you don’t see that in the blooper reels.
