Phil Hendrie Are Back!

Relax, grammar fans — it’s perfectly acceptable to refer to Phil Hendrie in the plural tense. After all, he’s the radio genius (in our humble opinion) who completely blew up and reinvented the Talk radio format — by operating as a self-contained unit of host and outrageous guests. Hendrie played all the roles himself, seamlessly toggling back and forth between multiple voices at once. Talk Radio Network is now proud to bring back Phil and all of his characters for your entertainment pleasure.

Hendrie’s show works beautifully on two levels: a) unbridled hilarity for those of us who were in on the joke and b) our added joy at listening to those poor unsuspecting saps who called in, outraged at the increasingly bizarre rantings of Phil’s “guests.” It was theatre of the mind in the truest sense.

We are more than pleased to report that Hendrie has answered our radio prayers and is bringing back all of the voices in his head, including Bobbie Dooley, head of the “Western Estates Homeowners Association”; the obnoxious, incredibly wealthy (did we mention obnoxious?) Ted Bell, owner of “Ted’s Steakhouse of Beverly Hills”; gossip columnist Margaret Grey; Doug Danger (pronounced Dang-her), self-described as “a gay man and a gay journalist”; teenage dork RC Collins; and one of our favorites, Jay Santos of the “Citizens Auxiliary Police,” a completely unauthorized law-enforcement service that “helps the police.”

“Radio needs alternative programming, like my show, now more than ever,” said Hendrie. “Having the advantage of communicating compelling and outrageous points of view through these characters is an opportunity no other host has.” For more Phil info, hit up Mark Masters at [email protected].
