…but….it does bear considering and embracing. As the tide of war turned against the Japanese in the Pacific, in the Philippines they herded American prisoners of war into an air raid ditch, doused them with avaiation fuel and set them on fire. But that’s not the point of the story. The point is, unlike in our society, where we would prosecute individuals who did such things, Japanese society gave blessing to these actions because to them the military code treating surrendering prisoners as less than human was absolutely correct. A society like that does not deserve any further life. A lot of crack-wipes and ass-gunners today don’t get that. We are superior because we constantly strive to codify decency and humanity.
