Warren Benmen  in 1995 climbing a broadcast tower in Ogalala, NE. to change the bulb, one of the last he ever changed

Tonight Doug Dannger, David G. Hall and Harvey Weirman discussed whether Doug should bring his act up to speed and instead of ‘calling himself a gay man and gay journalist,’ call himself a ‘LGBT man and LGBT journalist.’

Professor Emory Clayton was Phil’s guest on the Paula Dean issue. Ms. Dean is alleged to have used the n-word while operating a restaurant. Clayton wanted to get a speech professor on to analyze the “plosive sound made by whites when they say ‘boy’ but instead Bud booked Warren Benmen, a man who has undergone speech therapy after falling from a broadcast tower and ‘hitting every girder on the way down.

The Zone’s Steak Shapiro

It was Herb Sewell on the firing of three Atlanta disc jockeys for mocking a man with Lou Gehrig’s Disease, agreeing with Phil that they are sociopaths but otherwise probably good guys.

Ted Bell came on to tell Phil’s audience he was now serving “Steak Shapiro” named after one of the fired dj’s. Meanwhile Ted got frustrated with David G. Halls car alarm going off in his parking lot so he went outside and blew up a couple of cars that belonged to his valets (Naturally he can’t blow up David’s car since he’s a good customer)

Margaret Grey sang “Get This Party Started” because she found out Herb is hot for Pink.

David G. Hall called in as he and his new girfriend/fiance Daphne pulled up to a Winchell’s with Daphne half way out of the car before it can come to a full stop...

About The Phil Hendrie Show

Hendrie’s nationally syndicated radio show is driven by his cast of fictional characters, all of whom he created and plays on air.  As host, Hendrie sets up a topic and discusses it with one of his characters who seamlessly takes the discussion beyond obvious social parameters.  Feeding the circle of social satire are the callers who are real and genuinely passionate about what Hendrie’s “guest” is saying.  Loyal fans enjoy being in on the ruse as Hendrie orchestrates a parody of his own profession – talk radio.
