Ep. 174

Doug Dannger was on to discuss Jim Carrey's latest project, one that did not get off the ground. In the process he discussed Carrey's first, "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective" which Bob Green called in about, claiming it was originally "Ace Ventura: Pet Embalmer" and that his brother, Richard Green, wrote it. Austin Amarca was also on saying Dannger hitting the "gay man and gay journalist" note was getting on his nerves. Later it was Harvey Weirman discussing some legal issues but remembering the mental illness of his wife who used to look at him at dinner and say "It's your move. I'm standing here. It's your move." Dr. Jim Sadler called in to try and talk to Harvey about his issues but was driven from the air.

Ep. 151

Mavis Leonard joined Phil to sing "Lobotomy Blues," an old blues song that "came up the LA river from Long Beach with the colored actors." The subject came up because they were talking about Amanda Bynes and Frances Farmer, two actors that seem to be ready for "the hammer and spike." Doug Dannger, gay man and gay journalist got into the Joe Francis story saying that Francis was 'a real waste of 'straight.' Also Doug revealed that as a gay man and gay journalist he'll only have sex with other gay journalists. "After them I'll have sex with women but only really beautiful ones and then after them gay guys who do anything for a living. Don Doogan, dog trainer, talked about a little Border Collie lost in the tornado that was reunited with his owner. Don said people need to understand dogs better. To that end Don dresses in costume and goes to peoples houses to put on a show about dogs. "Wearing women's clothes completely separates me from civilization. I wind up staggering around in the snow in high heels."

Ep. 128

Dr. Jack Keppler a marine biologist spoke with Phil and his panel about a killer whale carcass that washed up on shore in New Zealand. As his train of thought became more bizarre, talking about 'robot whales,' for example, it gradually became clear he was in an assisted living facility and his daughter was there, who claimed the doctor was on board a research vessel when it was struck and sunk by a "giant octopus" off of South America in 1961. Doug Dannger, a gay man and a gay journalist, discussed the coming out last week of NBA player Jason Collins. Dannger said Collins came out "in a crisp and brisk fashion. Some guys waddle out of the closet, others sneak out looking to see if the coast is clear. But Collins coming out was rapid, fresh and brisk."

Phil discusses a large floating head found in New York harbor this week and in the process kicks Bud out of the studio when he starts making "head" jokes and then refers to Roberts "thick lips." Weirman got into what he said was Nortons ability to "reach out ajnd strangle anyone with one hand." Margaret also tries strangling Bud, not for the first time. Plus Karen Deauville calls in along with her brother-in-law Jerry to talk with Phil about actor Edward Norton and a "buzz" that Jerry said he saw in Parade magazine claiming Norton has enough strength in one hand to perform "the Vulcan pinch," similar to the so-called death grip used by the character Spock in Star Trek. Also Dr. Ron Tarner on the lunar eclipse and Doug Dannger too.
