Ep. 402

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

Short show today as Phil travels to the legendary ville of Tarzana for tax man talks. General Shaw wept as he talked about putting his mother in a nursing facility. The General chose the place that had the best Sunday ice cream social for the old folks. A place that had the old folks bumping into each other eating ice cream was rejected. The General also talked about the wool jock straps his mother used to knit him. Later discussions with Larry Grover about the Tea Party had General Shaw so pissed off he traveled to Larry's house disguised as a pizza delivery man and beat the shit out of him! Episode 125 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

Ep. 401

Tuesday, May 20, 2014

Phil and the crew talked with Frank Grey about a suit brought by the band Spirit against Led Zeppelin for, they claim, lifting a guitar line for "Stairway to Heaven" from one of their songs... Meanwhile Bob Green came on to defend Donald Sterling once again saying the players dare not strike if Sterling has not been moved out. Sterling pays them a lot of money and that "buys a lot of gold teeth." General Shaw talks about the dumbest Presidents he ever served under. He talks about the briefings that led up to the invasion of Grenada. Episode 124 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

Ep. 399

Monday, May 19, 2014

Long time horse trainer Cliff King made an appearance this morning from Los Alamitos, CA and talked to Phil about "being 72 and walking the streets of Los Alamitos where everyone's my friend." To impress a young waitress at "Egg's N' Things" he starts bending the metal legs of chairs across his forehead... Raj Feneen's son Todd was out of control during a segment on the Sultan of Brunei, calling Phil and General Shaw "callah-booloo" which Raj said was Arabic for "dick licker." Episode 123 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

Ep. 398

Friday, May 16, 2014

The crew introduced Bob Green talking about paying Donald Sterling's fine and mentioning an unfortunate incident where one of his partner grocers was loading in watermelon and talked about "coon hunting" in Mississippi. And Doug Dannger came on to talk about "the Oscar buzz around 'Rick Santini's performance' as Godzilla" in the new action "bio pic." Get your tickets now for "The World of Phil Hendrie" at the Hollywood Improv, June 5. Phil promises that he'll most likely collapse on stage or pull some other diva stunt. Episode 122 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

Ep. 396

Thursday, May 15, 2014

The crew started talking about climate change, but naturally it all got personal for Bud who worried about an asteroid hitting the Earth and Margaret feeling she's being disrespected ("Don't wag your finger at me like you're the overseer and I'm in the field and you want me to report to the Master in the house"). Also talk about Casey Kasem was front and center featuring Don Berman from Channel 19 News and his favorable opinion of Jean Kasem based on "the pair on her." The panel also talked about how Casey Kasem is getting sympathy but a babbler like Sterling runs his mouth and "people want to hang him from a rafter in the garage." The end of the show went straight to hell with Rudy Canosa, General Shaw, and Ms. Grey arguing over the proprietary right to sing "Brickhouse" by the Commodores. Margaret, naturally, won and related to the crew that she sang the "Brick-Owww-se" part as if Frank "had mistakenly tried the wrong entry and I'm going 'Ow, Frank!'" Episode 121 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

Ep. 395

Wednesday, May 14, 2014

The show began with General Shaw talking about Tucker Carlson and his bow tie wandering the streets of Chicago "like some bleached out brother selling Mohammed Speaks." Phil then told the true story of white FBI agents in the 40's trying to infiltrate the Nation of Islam by wearing "face paint" to darken their skin. Steve Bosell of Corona, Ca. was worried about the Margaret Grey Filth File leading to "traditional wives who follow the Bill O'Reilly ethic" doing as they are told and making a hard turn onto any road that says its leading to "Boner Ranch" or "Big Bone Lick Park." Dr. Ron Tarner discussed global climate change and how it's tough to explain to the average lay person. He went on to talk about how climate change could mean someday a hole in reality leading to a "land of twinkling lights." Episode 120 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

Ep. 393

Tuesday, May 13, 2014

This morning Phil and the panel opened the show with a discussion of economic bubbles which initially was misunderstood by Bud as "Bubbles the Chimp." He couldn't figure out why Phil went to Merrill Lynch to talk about a monkey act... Bob Green and David G. Hall tried to crash the show with blather about how what Sterling did wasn't as bad as Charles Barkely making fun of fat women. Mavis Leonard worried about the missing "Casey Casey" while she monitored a student of hers, Johjn 'the Penguin' Brown, playing a harpsichord recital. Episode 119 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.
