Classic Hour

Wednesday, June 13, 2018

Lloyd Bonafide has another property line dispute with a neighbor. He sings the song “Fire” in tribute to how he solved it. Dr William Brown talks about how animals looked at him like he wasn’t sh*t from and early age. And Steve Bosell remembers a big eared cat.

The BSP Classic Hour is from December 2000. Ted Bell’s restaurant has a tacky, $150K manger display. Baby Jesus rises out of the crib every 5 minutes and the Star of Bethlehem is a laser spotlight, and defies the governor’s power conservation requests.

I added this song to a Spotify playlist a month or two back after Youtube having suggested it based on something else I had played…

Great performances and recording quality, awesome drums…but it is of course also totally absurd!

It was great to hear you take it down, and hit on SO MANY of the exact same thoughts I have about it, and just riff your ass off. Smiling from ear to ear, really made my day.

I love Lloyd and the General and I think they were very distinct personalities and voices if you compare the Lloyd voice in the old bits and the current General Shaw they don’t sound anything alike but for some reason Phil has morphed the two voices together where Lloyd sounds like General Shaw. I heard Phil say oh well when reading the comments from last weeks show pointing out how much the two sound alike now. Phil apparently doesn’t want to go back and listen to how Lloyd once sounded. I don’t get that, it’s disappointing because there’s no way that the Lloyd of today sounds like the old Lloyd in which case what’s the point of bringing Lloyd back?

It’s great to have Lloyd back. I always felt General Shaw, his de facto “replacement,” just doesn’t have much personality, he’s just an old-guy voice. , Lloyd was the man! He sounded terrific in the pre-show, but like last week, slipped into Bob Greene’s new voice during the show itself.

One time during this interview, Lloyd’s voice turned to Gaylen. When the Mouth Siren Cop was on, there were times General Shaw exited the scene/didn’t say anything.
