Show

On tonight’s show Phil talked with Professor Don Micksa from the University of Washington about the threat of violence directed at Trey Parker and Matt Stone  from a certain Islamic web site for an episode of South Park deemed “offensive.” Professor Micksa said that if Parker and Stone would take a sabbatical from talking about Mohammed “in a Panda suit and flying carpets” then maybe things would cool out. Raj Feneen, an Egyptian businessman, came on and to say there was no difference between a threat of violence for insulting Mohammed and a threat of violence for cutting in line at KFC. One is religious to Muslims and the other is religious to Americans. Phil then continued his babbling about the Iceland volcano and how it could change climate. He also had a meltdown off air during a break over the difference between centigrade and celsius.

I hear Phil almost every show broadcast the videocast as a reality show of radio. Appealing, unique feature. Too bad that 75% of it is muted. Just saying.

here is the answer Phil wanted to know:

a change of 1.2 degrees Celsius equals a change of 2.16 degrees Farenhite.

    OR

a change of 1 degree Celsius corresponds to a change of 1.8 degrees Farenhite.

Thats all there is to it. What Phil wanted to know is what a change of degree Celsius equates to in Farenhite. So – when the temp of the planet dropped 1.2 degrees Celsius, that would correspond to about 2 degrees Farenhite drop.

Disagree with Christian, and Bob wants to suck Phils dick.
On numerous occasions Phil went apeshit on Jason for reasons unrelated to his job. I still think Phil is hilarious, but he’s clearly an asshole and anyone who says otherwise (like Bob) simply wants to literally blow Phil.

He’s definitely frustrated, and to be honest I can understand why. This is his fucking passion, and he wants it to be of the highest quality possible. At your job, don’t you want everything you do to come across as the best you can do? Of course you do, and when it comes out subpar, or below your standards, you don’t like it. With that being said, the staff definitely did not deserve to be yelled at like that regardless of how mad the boss gets. Obviously they’re doing the best they can but they may not have the right tools they need to do it. I’m not sure how they have it set up, but surely there must be some type of compression or volume normalization that can be done on the audio on the last level before it’s sent out to the feed. Even dinky little shoutcast programs such as SAM have an option to normalize the audio so there isn’t a large fluctuation in volume between the callers, the guests, Phil, and the sound effects. When I listen to the show on my computer, I use a winamp/itunes plugin called VolumeLogic and it works wonders. It basically just normalizes the entire audio as it plays so that everything is consistently at the same level with everything else. When I listen to the show without this plugin, it is extremely annoying because some things are way too loud and some things are barely audible at all.

Now, I know that boards and mixers are very different from a measly little mp3 file playing in itunes on a home computer, but if this little $15 program can make the show sound so much better, then there HAS to be something in the professional environment that can do this.

I find Hendrie fascinating, but if this schtick with his wagging that fat gut and sloppy tongue at that microphone toward the mysterious Jason is for real, then he’s a truly unhinged, pussy of an ass. If authentic, then Hendrie is a radio genius, but a real-world live-a-life dumb ass. I am assuming that the unseen Jason is paid very well and might well be laughing his back-side off over that kook Hendrie, maybe even pushing his buttons to watch him do baby-tantrum cuss-tubby fatso routines. If its part of the gag, then I’m really sucked into the cheap drama… and if that’s the case everyone there is deserving of awards, one and all, including Bud.

I agree about the premises being sub-par lately, as well. I wasn’t sure if it was just me. Apparently not. But I don’t see how that reflects on Jason because it’s usually Phil who comes up with em.
    Maybe he’s getting burnt out.

I believe Christian is right. Sub-par is a good description. If Phil had a better staff, his show could be as funny as it used to be. Get with it Phil!

Was the blowup in the videocast? I like the videocasts, it’s fun to hear discussion about what topics to include and why. Unfortunately I can’t watch them because of the language – I have a talking bird in the house and I have to watch what he hears!

Phil, I think ignorance might be one reason why people aren’t reporting the effect of volcanoes on climate, but another reason might be that most people in the media don’t want people to think that nature has any effect on climate, they want us to think all climate change is man-made.

Have to add, I would NOT want to be on Jason’s end. I’m sure he’s trying his best.

But Phil is a pro and rare talent and need the very best to keep up with his abilities. Otherwise he will blow up! Because he KNOWS it can be better.

as subjective as it is, I feel the material he tries to work with lately seems sub-par. (not all, but some)

Phil needs a very clever (and probably hard to find) team.

I disagree with knifechase, and knifechase takes it in the ass seven ways prison style. Anyone who says otherwise hasn’t seen the home videos that knifechase’s mom has been selling out of the trunk of her beat down old Dodge Charger. The videos are notable mostly for the excellent sound quality, choppy video with VHS scanlines, and imagery of knifechase taking family member after extended family member up his no-no hole at the "afterparty" of his fathers funeral. It was a lovely affair by all accounts. Too bad knifechase’s mom wasn’t in it… she was holding the camera.
So… with the evidence presented, it’s much more likely that you’d blow Phil, knifechase. Not out of admiration for the man whose web site you frequent and obviously pay money to use. But rather, because you are an impotent half-man with a glowing hot wad of sexual dysfunction swirling in your gut, churning and meshing with the Knifechase Family Fun Shake pumped into your digestive tract and this causes you to see blowing anything with more than two inches of dick as a substitute for love. But I could be way, way off on that. Just taking a shot in the dark. Like your mom did when your uncle/father impregnated her on her tenth birthday.

Phil seems to take everything at face value with a real common sense approach to it. When you look at it from that perspective… then yes… 1.2 C being 30 F or whatever should mean that for every 1.2C there is 30 F. But there’s a calculation behind those numbers that goes beyond a simple extrapolation. Phil has a great analytical mind when he knows all the facts… but he has a tendancy to fill in the blanks with his opinion, which doesn’t work with things like math.

And I agree that his support team there doesn’t seem to be up to the task of handling Phil. He’s a creative man, and inside creative men is a swirling vortex of a need to be heard and understood, and when that need is not being met it can get ugly.

i think Phil is frustrated with not having the right support.

i remember a few years back, though i do not know their
names… the research and pitch team seemed WAY better
    and also professional as comedians/writers.

Phil, great show as always. I have to agree, that tantrum was pretty inexcusable. I’m not a smart man but even I know that Centigrade/Celsius – Fahrenheit is not linear.
If you are not taken below for the makings for that one, you should be cast down with the sodomites.

I’ll hang up now and turn my radio down and listen.

Holy shit Phil, is your heart alright after that tantrum? According to Google 1.2 degrees Celsius (CENTIGRADE [same damn thing]) = 34.16 degrees Fahrenheit, it’s not a linear scale. It’s pretty sad you couldn’t get it through your stupid head that he was saying literally 1.2 C = 34.16 F, not that for every 1.2 C you add 34.15 F. That makes sense, since 0 C = 32 F by virtue of the fact that 0 C and 32 F are the temps that water freeze at. It’s sad to see you treat your staff like shit because you can’t understand what he was saying. It didn’t appear to be his fault, although I am sure your ego will tell you otherwise. I can’t imagine being treated by my boss the way you treat your employees. What a fucking dick.
