Ep. 198

In the first hour Phil talked about Kim Jung Un's uncle getting executed, and Don Berman joined the show to talk about Hollywood Park closing. During the second hour Don Burman continues to talk about the closing of Hollywood park from Cory Downs. He's betting on the horses again and of course losing. He says the whole thing is fixed and he's threatening the horses and jockeys. RC Collins calls in to say that Don is a degenerate gambler and Watson agrees. He says he knows a little bit about horse racing because his dad used to have a box. He then insults General Shaw. Bud's starts talking about the monkey at the beginning of 2001 and everyone thinks Phil needs a vacation. Mavis Leonard comes on in the final hour. She's on her way to the store to get some Henry Weinhard. She's talking about a number of random things. Bud says that gambling is a sin, his Mom's church says so. This leads to Phil calling Pastor Rennick to explain some things. Bud says his Mom does the scratch and sniff. The Pastor starts talking about in the bye and bye you go bye bye and the Devil says hi, or something like that.

Ep. 345

Jeff Dowdder, a part time professor of mechanical physics and base jumper, talked with Phil about the guys that base jumped from the top of the new Freedom Tower in NYC back in September and who have just now been arrested for it. Dowdder said the freedom you feel with the wind flowing up your pant leg is what its all about. General Shaw countered by saying heaven help the man who is coming down in a parachute "feeling all free and breezy and he doesn't notice a baby in a bassinet sucking on a bottle and looking in wonder at the world around him and this lover lands on top of the kid with a sickening squish sound!" Vernon Dozier thinks the Chinese have got some pair on them demanding all kinds of info from the Malaysians. Dozier sent two buddies of his who are down there on construction jobs into the press conference to ask the question "'Scuse me, 'scuse me. When are you bowl haircuts going to climb off everyone's back." Mavis Leonard reported on the Oscar Pistorius trial, telling Phil she's been so unnerved by it she's had nightmares about a guy with two Slinky's for legs chasing her. The pre-show today is well worth it as Phil tears media and Mr. and Mrs. America a brand new ass. On into the show there was discussion of new pings from the Indian Ocean as Art Griego stood on the runway in Santa Monica reporting. His boss, Bob Cumming had aircraft landing and taking off behind him "so it sounds like I'm actually in Perth, Australia." Bud's joke about May Pang's family having been the main developers of the ping locator, thus missing the chance to call the company Pang's Pings fell completely flat. Vernon Dozier commented on the "pussies" now working in politics and how guys like Vance McAllister need to just take it like men. "If its caught in the meat grinder then brother, just keep it in there and crank away." Mavis Leonard talked with Margaret about not being sensitive to Robert and his rough background. "Robert was part of a street gang called the June Bugs. Not very bad ass." Bobbie Dooley wound up dropping both Steve and Gene Wiffner, who thought when Bobbie said she didn't want the sound effect of a shotgun "cocking and firing she meant she didn't want cock." Phil begins the show by telling everyone, calmly, he's getting a fire axe and burying it in the equipment. Then Phil talked with the crew about the ongoing angst of family members around the Flight 370. Later Will Garbarini, "oceanographer" discussed further search efforts with the panel and Mavis Leonard who imagined herself being on board. Margaret began feeling bad for the first class passengers who would have been the first to hit the water. RC Collins discussed the military options in the east Ukraine, quoting "Lieutenant Mullings, who's our tactics and battle plan instructor" and mentioned the Marines in a famous World War 1 battle that had nothing to do with the topic... All things Donald Sterling this morning with Mavis Leonard being not so much concerned with Sterling as she was for the bad play of the Clippers who were "dogging it up and down the floor all game." She wasn't impressed with their response which was "pussy" in her opinion. Professor Emory Clayton was in firebrand mode. He wanted a full boycott and a Clipper win Tuesday night. So the Clippers go up 3-2 in front of absolutely no one. Larry Grover thought the entire thing was an invasion of Sterling's privacy while his mother Gloria intimated that Larry was spanking it to Sterling's girlfriend... This morning Phil and the panel opened the show with a discussion of economic bubbles which initially was misunderstood by Bud as "Bubbles the Chimp." He couldn't figure out why Phil went to Merrill Lynch to talk about a monkey act... Bob Green and David G. Hall tried to crash the show with blather about how what Sterling did wasn't as bad as Charles Barkely making fun of fat women. Mavis Leonard worried about the missing "Casey Casey" while she monitored a student of hers, Johjn 'the Penguin' Brown, playing a harpsichord recital. Don Berman from channel 19 news comes in early to his newsroom to be on our show and isn't recognized by anyone. It's a problem... Mavis Leonard rips AT&T Wireless an ass for cutting her minutes off while she's texting a story for her "Interesting Tidbits" newsletter... Kicking things off was talk of the Scottish independence vote and what it all meant which no one understood or cared about. Conversation was more about "What is large curd cottage cheese" and "Phil needs to pull one of Margaret's tampons out of the studio toilet..." Mavis Leonard came on to comment on the NFL domestic abuse scandals as she was being driven to the funeral of her late pinochle partner Ella Saban. She also was bugging her driver to "pull it up" at a McDonald's so she could get a quarter pounder with cheese. Ted Bell also got in on the discussion. Mavis Leonard kicks off with a renewal of "Inner'essing Tidbits." The Ebola nurse is discussed by Phil and Margaret. She says she's tired of being called the Ebola nurse but Margaret figures she's "just some red-head looking to be the next media sensation. The whole thing probably gives her a thrill." The music service Shazam is dissected and Phil makes dire predictions for artists if labels start using it to determine what kinds of songs they should WRITE...
