It's about selling left-over Easter candy even though Phil and the panel point out that Easter was about resurrection, not crucifixion. Ted Bell, owner of Ted's of Beverly Hills steakhouse, told the audience about being at the Beverly Hills Hotel to protest the government of Brunei's ownership. Ted said Jay Leno led the assembled people in a protest cheer: "1-2-3 Brunei can shove it up their ass!" Jeff Dowdder was at Cratered Park in either Nebraska or Texas riding the roller coaster Doom Hurdle. He sounded like he was going to die but afterward said it was just "okay." Ep. 387

Wednesday, May 7, 2014

The Beverly Hills Hotel is the object of protests this week because the ownership is from the country of Brunei and Brunei is a country rife with human rights abuses. This is "Margaret's turf" as she likes to say...Bud and Robert think Sharia Law is a "joke law." General Shaw goes against the panel on this one, having met the Sultan of Brunei, calling him a "good conversationalist. We went to Brunei and whoever the guy was with the bed sheet, the Sultan, showed us around." Phil talks about economic boycotts and the definition of news. Margaret takes exception to the idea that Phil has a definition of news since she works in the news business, not him and she should have a definition of news...which she unfortunately doesn't. Dean Wheeler joined the show along with Dr. Paul Cutlet to discuss the climate change urgency. Wheeler was having a heart attack over the whole issue while Dr. Cutlet, riding in his sedan, hit a bridge abutment... Episode 115 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.

This morning the "panel" talked about something the General noticed...On TV he saw a veteran of the second World War finally getting his high school diploma. The General said that while we owe so much to those guys, they aren't exactly rocket scientists.... The anniversary of the rescue of three young women in Cleveland from a psychopathic kidnapper was today. General Shaw and Margaret said it was possible the neighbor that kicked open the door and effected the rescue might have gone over there to kick in the door and tell the women to shut up, that he couldn't hear the TV for their hollering.... Phil mentioned going to a photo shoot today and the ongoing insomnia... Episode 113 from The World of Phil Hendrie podcast.
